Baked Masala bun/pav/smashed potato filling stuffed Bun. They are one of the authentic and most loved bakery items in India. INGREDIENTS: For the dough : Activated yeast 2 tsp Milk 1/4 cup Sugar 1 tbsp Wheat flour 11/2 cups All purpose flour 11/2 cups Salt 1/2 tsp Milk 1/2 cup Water to knead For the stuffing : Oil 1 tbsp Jeera 1 tsp Hing 1 tsp Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp Onion chopped 1 Potatoes boiled 5-6 Salt to taste Sugar 1/2 tsp Garam Masala 1 tsp Recipe *Activating Yeast: In a bowl, mix 2 tsp activated yeast and milk and 1 tbsp Sugar. Keep it aside for 20 minutes. *Potato filling: In a pan Heat oil, add jeera, asfoetida, turmeric powder chopped onions saute well. Add boiled smashed potatoes , salt, sugar , garam masala.Stir well. Huli Pudi is one of the authentic traditional Sambar powders which has been passed on from generation to generation. This is specially made in North Karnataka. There is a wide variety of sambar powders not only within Karnataka but within South India. Each region has it's own way of adding ingredients and making them. In North Karnataka brahmin families, you can usually see two types of Sambars, firstly 'Saaru ' which can also be called Rasam with Toor dal. The consistency is thin and usually made with Tur dal and tomatoes or Tamarind. The other one is 'Huli' which is thicker in consistency and usually includes some veggies or greens.
