These healthy Idlis are a perfect addition to your Breakfast routine because they are easy to make using Barnyard Millet Rava instead of Idly Rava. Addition of millets in Idlis increases the nutrition level and the health benefits that we get are innumerable.
I got Barnyard Millet Rava from Indian stores here in USA . You can use any other millet Rava that is available in stores near you.
I have been experimenting with Idli batter from a long time now and this is one of the successful experiments and so sharing with you all.
INGREDIENTS;
Barnyard millet rava 2 cups
Urad dal 4 cups
Soaked medium poha 1/4 cup
Methi powder 1 tsp
Water required for grinding
Baking Soda 1 pinch
Salt to taste
π« Wash & Soak Urad dal for 6-7 hours in enough water.
π«Wash & Soak Barnyard Millet Rava in water for 2 hours. Soak poha in some water.
π« Grind soaked Urad dal with soaked poha and methi seeds powder into a smooth batter.
π«Add this to Soaked Millet Rava and mix well. Keep in a warm place and let it ferment for 8 hours /overnight
π« Next morning , add salt & baking soda to the fermented batter and mix well.
π«Add small amount of batter in greased Idly moulds and steam for 10- 15 mins without pressure in a Pressure Cooker
